Virginia Tech TE Dalton Keene surprised most Hokie fans when he announced his decision to leave Blacksburg and declare for the 2020 NFL Draft. What's not surprising to Hokie fans is the fact that NFL teams want a closer look at Keene as proven by today's news.

Dalton Keene received an invite to the 2020 NFL Combine. Keene is one of more than 300 players to receive an invite though he is the lone Hokie to do so.

Keene earning an invite isn't surprising after he had a career high 5 receiving touchdowns this past from his 21 receptions for 240 yards. He has also shown plenty of versatility throughout his collegiate career as a quality blocker who definitely has the potential to have a multi-year NFL career because of that.

It will be interesting to see how well Keene does at the NFL Combine as a strong performance would solidify his chances of being selected in the 2020 NFL Draft, especially since his tape and leadership should make him more appealing as a late round draft pick.

Surprisingly, three-year starter and captain Reggie Floyd did not receive an invite though Floyd definitely has the potential to be selected in Day 3 of the 2020 NFL Draft. Running back Deshawn McClease also didn't earn an invite though McClease, Floyd, Keene, and more will all have the chance to impress NFL scouts at Virginia Tech's Pro Day later this spring.
