Virginia Tech Rolls Out the Red Carpet for Four-Star PF PJ Hall

Vt students against ole miss

It's a big weekend for Virginia Tech men's basketball as the Hokies are hosting their top target, four-star PF PJ Hall, on an official visit this weekend. Hall arrived last night with the Hokies rolling out the red carpet for him, literally.

Virginia Tech clearly wanted to set the tone about how badly they want Hall and how they plan to roll out the red carpet for him this weekend by literally doing so to start. Also, how about an impressive job by the two people cleanly rolling out the red carpet and landing it almost right down the middle of the balloon entrance.

Going into this visit, the Hokies are considered by many as the favorites for Hall with Virginia Tech having a great chance to make a big statement for their top target. Florida had been seen as a top contender especially after they hosted Hall recently on an official visit, but the Gators appear to be fading while in-state Clemson has emerged as a top contender alongside the Hokies at this point.

Virginia Tech has the family connections here with Mike Young coaching PJ Hall's dad in college, something that could prove valuable in the end. Additionally, Young coached Hall at camps hosted by Wofford as Hall grew up in the Spartanburg, SC area. Both of those connections combined with how Hall was made a priority as soon as Mike Young arrived have set the Hokies up well at this point in his recruitment.

Hall would be another major addition to a special first full recruiting cycle class for Mike Young and his staff with four-star, top 100 guards Joe Bamisile and Darius Maddox already on board. Adding Hall would likely guarantee Virginia Tech finishes in the top 20-25 with a serious chance to push for a top 10 recruiting finish if the Hokies sign a class of 4 or 5.

The Hokies are making it clear from the get go that PJ Hall is their top priority on the board and are already rolling out the red carpet on his official visit to Blacksburg.

PJ Hall in the Recruiting Rankings

Nationally, Hall is ranked as the 60th best recruit nationally by ESPN, 61st best by the 247 Sports Composite, 62nd best by Rivals, and 67th best by 247 Sports. Hall is ranked as the best recruit in South Carolina by 247 Sports, ESPN, and the 247 Sports Composite. Among power forwards, Hall is ranked ninth best by the 247 Sports Composite, 10th best by Rivals, and 11th best by 247 Sports while ESPN ranks him as the 10th best center.
