Rumors had been trembling that Davis was looking at decommitting though sourcing from multiple people in and around the Houston area and Davis suggested this was not the case. Clearly, Davis and his family kept their considerations under tight wrap and may simply be looking for a reset as life has changed a lot over the past several weeks.
A positive for the Hokies is that Davis does still intend to take an official visit to Virginia Tech, and the Hokies should still be contenders for Davis. Tech has also seen prominent commits back off and then rejoin Tech down the road previously including TyJuan Garbutt and DeJuan Ellis.
With Davis decommitting, the Hokies currently have five commitments from four-star WR Latrell Neville, three-star DBs Jalen Hoyle and Nykelius Johnson, three-star LB Will Johnson, and three-star DT Tyas Martin.
We will have more as this story develops.
