2020 Three-Star PG Myles Tate "Excited" About Recent Virginia Tech Offer

Mike Young has been busy offering lots of recruits during his first few weeks on the job with one of his first offers being extended to 2020 three-star PG Myles Tate out of South Carolina. https://twitter.com/MylesTateeee/status/1120711581439004672?s=19 Tate had this to say about his reaction to receiving a Virginia Tech offer. "I just thanked God for blessing me with the offer," Tate said. "I was excited because it’s an offer from a school in the ACC and that’s big!" Mike Young extended the offer during a meeting he had with Tate and his family in South Carolina. Since then, the Hokies have been among the teams showing the most interest in him along with South Carolina, Wofford, and Appalachian State. This wasn't the first time Myles Tate had spoken with Mike Young as the two had a prior relationship going back to last May when Young offered Tate a scholarship while he was at Wofford, less than an hour away from where Tate plays at Dorman HS. Tate told us that he "respects him (Mike Young) as a man and a coach" and says that he has a "close" relationship with him. Tate did plenty to earn a VT offer and others after averaging 17 points, 5 assists, and 5 rebounds per game on his way to leading his high school to a state championship. Unsurprisingly, his performance has also attracted interest from other schools that haven't offered yet including Virginia, Georgia, and Murray State. Looking ahead to the summer, Tate is currently planning on taking visits to Virginia Tech and Appalachian State though he hasn't set any dates for visits just yet. Tate also added that he doesn't have a timeline for making a commitment at this point adding that he wants to make sure he makes "the right choice." Virginia Tech has sent out plenty of offers that have shown who is around the top of Virginia Tech's 2020 recruiting board with that group including Myles Tate.
