Three-Star DE Stephen Sings Decommits from Virginia Tech

Helmet 1

After gaining their first 2021 commitment Monday night from Jalen Hoyle, Virginia Tech lost a 2020 commitment for the second straight week as three-star DE Stephen Signs decommitted from the Hokies Tuesday night.

It definitely seems possible that Sings could still end up at Virginia Tech though expect Auburn, Oregon, Missouri, North Carolina, and UCF to be among those also involved in his recruitment going forward.

The departure of Sings leaves the Hokies with three-star DE Derrell Bailey Jr as their lone defensive line commit. However, the Hokies may be able to bolster it soon with the Hokies in pursuit of several talented defensive linemen.

On the edge, the Hokies hosted three-star DE Myles Jackson, a former UCLA commit, on an official visit for the North Carolina game with Virginia Tech impressing him on his visit. The Hokies also hosted three-star DL Simeon Barrow Jr, a current Michigan State commit, this past weekend. Barrow is still committed to the Spartans at the moment, but the Hokies continue to push hard for the versatile Georgia defensive lineman.

Virginia Tech is also one of two finalists for three-star DT Gary Smith who would give the Hokies some interior size and could give VT more options with players who could be developed into DEs or DTs.
