Virginia Tech's strong July on the recruiting trail continued today as the Hokies landed a commitment from three-star DE Cole Nelson.

Nelson became the Hokies' sixth commit this month along with talented California CB D.J. Harvey, 757 LB Isi Etute, Tennessee WR Tray Curry, Georgia RB Malachi Thomas, and Texas WR Da'Wain Lofton. Additionally, Nelson is the second true defensive end commitment this cycle along with Mattheus Carroll though LB Keli Lawson could also end up at defensive end.
Nelson chose the Hokies over a quality offer list that also included Indiana, Wake Forest, Illinois, Boston College, Vanderbilt, Michigan State, Virginia, Syracuse, Kansas, UCF, Memphis, and others.
