After fireworks last weekend on the Pacific Coast via a commitment from talented CB D.J. Harvey, Virginia Tech made a splash today on the Atlantic Coast landing a commitment from three-star 757 LB Isi Etute.

Etute chose the Hokies over his fellow finalists West Virginia and N.C. State along with other offers from Virginia, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, East Carolina, Temple, and others. He also is the third linebacker commitment for the Hokies along with Will Johnson and Keli Lawson, who could also end up at defensive end for Tech.

After signing only one in-state recruit in the 2020 class, Virginia Tech has had an in-state resurgance this cycle with Etute being Tech's fifth in-state commitment this cycle. Tech's in-state commitments now also represent most major in-state regions with Jalen Stroman and Shawn Asbury II from Northern Virginia, Keli Lawson from the northwestern part of the state, Jaylen Jones from the Richmond area, and now Etute from the 757.

Etute is an intriguing prospect with very good size at 6'3'' while also showing plenty of promise including in coverage after having 74 tackles, 4 interceptions, and 2 touchdowns last season. Given that, it's easy to envision Etute at any of the Hokies' three linebacker spots though mike and backer are more likely than whip given the frame he has to grow into in the coming years.
