Virginia Tech has been busy offering recruits recently as the dead period wraps up including sending an offer to 2021 three-star OT Tristan Bounds.
Bounds had this to say about receiving an offer from the school in the city where he was born.
"I was super excited. Any time you receive an offer, it’s a blessing and you have to thank God but being born in Blacksburg, this one is special," Bounds said.
Bounds received the offer Thursday morning from RBs coach Adam Lechtenberg who has been leading the charge for the Hokies leading up to receiving an offer. Overall, Bounds told us that he has a "really good" relationship with Bounds, something that should help the Hokies in the recruitment of the 6'7'' offensive tackle.
Additionally, Bounds had received visits from head coach Justin Fuente and OL coach Vance Vice previously, showing how serious Tech's interest is in him.
Tech is joining an impressive offer list that has several Power 5 programs on it in addition to the Hokies including Nebraska, Louisville, N.C. State, Virginia, West Virginia, Indiana, Boston College, Maryland, and Rutgers.
So how does this offer impact his recruitment and VT's standing in it?
"It just gives me another option in the decision I’m making. It’s always a blessing to receive an offer and VT is an exciting school to me," Bounds said.
Looking ahead, Bounds told us that the only visit he currently has scheduled is on February 1st to Penn State. However, it wouldn't be surprising to see him add more visits to it including a visit to Virginia Tech. When he does, it won't be his first visit after visiting Tech for the Rhode Island game with Bounds telling us that visit went "really well."
Bounds fits the mold of what Vance Vice has looked for at offensive tackle in bigger offensive lineman that bring athleticism. The best example of a taller than normal tackle that has thrived at Tech is Luke Tenuta who is the frontrunner to take the right tackle job next season after a solid 2019 season.
Virginia Tech is ready to make Tristan Bounds a priority on the offensive line with Bounds making that interest mutual.
