Four-star DB Kamari Ramsey from California continues to be one of the top defensive back targets for Virginia Tech with the Hokies continuing to be right among those standing out in his recruitment.

Ramsey told us that Tech is among eight schools currently standing out in his recruitment along with USC, Stanford, UCLA, California, Arizona State, Ohio State, and Notre Dame. He had this to say about why the Hokies are currently standing out in his recruitment.

"They have a nice coaching staff, and they have a nice program. They play good competition," Ramsey said.

Virginia Tech is continuing to make a strong push with Ramsey telling us that he hears from the Hokies on a weekly basis with USC, Arizona State, Stanford, and UCLA all making big pushes for Ramsey as well.

Head coach Justin Fuente is leading the charge for Tech in Ramsey's recruitment with Ramsey telling us that he is "cool" with Fuente and that "the conversation is always easy." The fact that Ramsey does have a strong relationship with Fuente is definitely an encouraging sign for the Hokies at this point in his recruitment.

Ramsey also feels that he would fit well in Tech's defense in large part because he feels his skillset includes the versatility required of a safety in today's game.

"I feel I would fit in well because I’m versatile. I can play the run and the pass. Every team needs a safety like that in today’s game," Ramsey said.

Looking ahead, Ramsey is in a state in California that is having a spring football season rather than a fall one due to the COVID-19 pandemic with Ramsey having multiple personal and team goals for this upcoming season that are quite ambitious as he shared with us.

"Win a state championship. 80+ tackles, 10 INTs, 15+ Pass deflections, 5+ forced fumbles," Ramsey said.

Clearly, Kamari Ramsey has high expectations for himself with the good news for the Hokies being that they are right in the hunt for a player who definitely shoots to be an elite defensive playmaker.
