Virginia Tech-Clemson Gets Primetime ABC Kickoff

After having Thanksgiving week off, Virginia Tech enters the closing stretch of their season starting with a home game against Clemson. Unsurprisingly, given the lack of quality matchups across the country, ABC and the ACC has decided to make the Hokies' showdown with Clemson one of the most prominently featured games on TV.

Virginia Tech will face Clemson in primetime (7:30pm) on ABC in what is the first primetime ABC for Tech this season, and first in general since the Hokies faced Notre Dame in primetime back in 2018. VT-Clemson will have some primetime competition from Alabama-LSU on CBS and Oklahoma-Baylor on FOX.

Obviously, this has drawn a different reaction than something like this would normally do given the Hokies' struggles in 2020 and the unsurprising fact that Tech is massive 20+ point underdogs in this game. However, the weak slate of games this week combined with the fact that ABC contractually isn't allowed to put an SEC game in their primetime slot led to Clemson-VT taking the slot with it clearly being a showcase chance for Tech.

Of course, a primetime game would also usually be a chance for Tech fans to be featured prominently along with Enter Sandman though that won't be the case this time around.

So it's a primetime game for the Hokies against Clemson as they look to pull off a miraculous, seemingly impossible upset against the Tigers in primetime on ABC.
