After back-to-back shutouts against Georgia Tech and Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech entered the College Football Playoff top 25 for the first time this season.

2️⃣2️⃣. Southern Cal // @USC_FB
2️⃣3️⃣. Iowa State // @CycloneFB
2️⃣4️⃣. Virginia Tech // @HokiesFB
2️⃣5️⃣. Appalachian State // @AppState_FB
The Hokies were the lone team to jump into the CFP rankings this week jumping in at 24th. This comes after Virginia Tech was ranked 23rd this week in both the AP and Coaches Polls.
This is the third time in four seasons under Justin Fuente that the Hokies have been ranked at least once by the playoff committee. Should they beat Virginia, they'll be in a strong position to earn spots in the final 2 editions of the playoff rankings for the third time under Fuente as well.
For now, Virginia Tech's inclusion in the rankings means that they are currently in line to play in the Orange Bowl with Clemson currently in the top 4. However, Saturday's winner of the Commonwealth Cup should be ranked next week and in line for the Orange Bowl spot while the loser will be headed for a top tier ACC bowl with the Belk being the likely destination if VT doesn't reach the Orange.
