As 2020 just about reaches its much-wanted conclusion, here are some of the latest Virginia Tech football recruiting notes.

3* DE/LB Sebastian Sagar

Three-star DE/LB and Georgia Tech commit Sebastian Sagar told us that he has been hearing from Virginia Tech recently and had a conversation with DL coach Darryl Tapp earlier this week. Sagar told us that he was mostly catching up with Tapp and that the conversation was "great" as a whole.

He added that outside of VT and Georgia Tech (where he is currently committed), he has also been hearing from Liberty with the Hokies and Flames being the only two who appear to be making a push to potentially flip Sagar at this time.

Sagar played for Grayson HS in Georgia this past fall, but he is not from Georgia as he transferred down from New York for his senior high school football season. Tech was involved in his recruitment in the spring prior to his commitment to Georgia Tech when he was still up in New York so the fact that they have continued on here in the winter is notable especially since Sagar didn't sign during the December window.

Keep an eye on the Hokies as they clearly are looking into making a push to flip Sagar and add one more defensive end.

OL Greer Rush

Virginia Tech is looking to add at least one more offensive lineman from the high school ranks to their 2021 ranks with one of the guys the Hokies are evaluating being Texan Greer Rush.

Rush told us that he heard from Virginia Tech over the holidays including from DL coach Darryl Tapp.

Rush also told us that he's been hearing from LSU, Mississippi State, Texas A&M, Louisiana, UL Monroe, and numerous others as plenty of teams are clearly intrigued. That shouldn't come as a surprise given his size (6'5'' and 290 pounds), versatility to play all 5 offensive line spots, and the fact that he was All-District First Team last year and seems well on his way to repeating that for 2020.

Rush's versatility is definitely something that will likely appeal a lot to VT OL coach Vance Vice ho is know for liking offensive linemen who can play all over the line. However, it remains to be seen if Tech likes Rush enough to move forward with an offer.

2022 4* ATH/WR Mehki Flowers

Ahead of announcing his collegiate decision tomorrow, 2022 four-star ATH/WR Mehki Flowers released his top 10 during this holiday season with Virginia Tech among those making the cut.

He had this to say about why Tech made his top 10.

"I visited VT back when they first offered and the atmosphere just stood out to me, the coaches were genuine, and the kids seemed like they loved the school," Flowers said.

After that, Flowers told us that there were a few schools that he would describe as "frontrunners" including the Hokies, Penn State, Arizona State, and Howard.

Flowers is an extremely talented athlete and would be a tremendous addition for the Hokies especially given their recruiting struggles over the past couple of cycles. While Tech is a contender, nearby Penn State is considered the favorite with most signs pointing towards him choosing the Nittany Lions on New Year's Day.
