Virginia Tech is among the final three for star 757 linebacker Isi Etute ahead of his decision today. Here's the latest on him plus other Hokie targets in the latest Virginia Tech football recruiting notes.

3* LB Isi Etute

It's decision day for three-star LB Isi Etute with the talented 757 recruit choosing between Virginia Tech, N.C. State, and West Virginia.

While WVU has been involved much longer than the other two and N.C. State has recruited fairly well regionally, all signs are pointing towards Virginia Tech and I confidently predict that the Hokies will land a commitment from Etute.

Landing Etute would be another solid boost of in-state momentum especially in the 757, the lone major in-state region where the Hokies currently don't have a commit. Etute would become the fifth in-state commit for Tech this cycle alongside WR Jaylen Jones, DBs Jalen Stroman and Shawn Asbury II, and LB/DE Keli Lawson.

Landing Etute would also have Tech's linebacker class almost complete with four-star Jordan Poole being the main target left to join a class that would include Etute, Will Johnson, and the versatile Keli Lawson who could also end up at defensive end in the long term.

Decision day is here for Etute, and the Hokies should be receiving some very good news later today.

Update: Isi Etute committed to Virginia Tech this evening (July 11th). More here.

3* WR Da'Wain Lofton

Three-star Texas WR Da'Wain Lofton continues to be one of the top priorities for Virginia Tech as Lofton told us that the Hokies, Louisville, and Washington State are recruiting him the hardest.

WRs coach Jafar Williams and RBs coach Adam Lechtenberg are continuing to lead the charge in his recruitment with those two continuing to put the Hokies in a strong position.

Additionally, Lofton told us that the Hokies are "one of my top schools still" in his recruitment for the following reasons.

"They were first offer and I’ve been developing a good relationship with Coach (Jafar) Williams," Lofton said.

While not too much has changed for Lofton in recent weeks, one thing that has is his commitment plans as he told us that he no longer plans to make a commitment prior to his tentative start of his senior season. While this does leave more time for other schools to get involved, there weren't really a few teams that were clearly separating themselves prior to his decision to postpone his commitment.

Overall though, Tech is in very good shape as a top contender for Lofton with a more textended recruitment to try to land the versatile, slot playmaker.

3* RB Kenji Christian

Kenji Christian continues to be one of Virginia Tech's top targets at running back with the Hokies making that clear by the fact that they are in contact with him "everyday" as he tells us.

The Hokies are likely to add 1-2 more running backs to join versatile Chance Black with Christian among the top targets along with 4* Audric Estime, 3* Tavierre Dunlap, and Malachi Thomas. Christian is also a bigger back at 6'2'' and 200 pounds who would project as more of a power back, something that seems to be of priority for the Hokies with their targeting of guys like Christian and 6'1.5'' Estime.

Christian previously told us that RBs coach Adam Lechtenberg is leading the charge in his recruitment which shouldn't come as a surprise not only because of the position he coaches, but also because Tech has used Lechtenberg as the primary in many places that Tech doesn't commonly recruit including Deep South states like Alabama.

Keep an eye on Christian as the Hokies continue to make a big push to try to land the Pinson, Alabama running back.
