Four-star LB Jordan Poole has emerged as one of Virginia Tech's top defensive recruiting targets with the Hokies making the top 3 for the talented linebacker.

Virginia Tech was joined by in-state N.C. State and South Carolina in the top 3 for Jordan Poole. The Hokies and Wolfpack are considered the frontrunners for Poole with rumors that he could commit in the very near future, though we've heard that a commitment may not be coming as soon as some believe.

As mentioned above, the Hokies and Wolfpack are considered the frontrunners with a source confirming that those two teams are at the forefront. While it seems most likely that he'll end up at 1 of those 2, South Carolina is still in the running while Poole is still leaving the door cracked open for other schools who may want to make a strong charge, though that seems unlikely.

One plus for Virginia Tech that could be very valuable is the fact that the Hokies hosted Poole on a visit during their elite Junior Day back on February 1st. That was also at least his third visit to Blacksburg as he visited last summer for the Blacksburg Bash and last fall for the Hokies' win against North Carolina.

Poole would give the Hokies their top mike linebacker prospect to join a linebacker class that already includes Will Johnson; who projects at whip but could also end up at mike depending on how the class shakes out, and Keli Lawson; who is likely to start at backer but could work as a LB/DE hybrid as well.

Landing Jordan Poole would be a huge recruiting victory not only for the Hokies as a whole but also for new defensive coordinator Justin Hamilton and new LBs Tracy Claeys, especially given that Poole has been a top linebacker priority since Claeys' arrival as Johnson was.

Jordan Poole would also be in a great position to play early at Virginia Tech given how the Hokies have only signed one high school recruit who projects at linebacker in the past two classes in Dean Ferguson, who is likely to end up at backer or whip. That makes landing him even more important with Dax Hollifield set to be a senior and Keshon Artis set to be a junior when Poole would enter his freshman year.

Virginia Tech is in an intense battle for one of their most important targets in the 2021 class, four-star LB Jordan Poole, with a good chance at landing the talented Oakboro, NC recruit.
