Brad Cornelsen was busy on the road extending offers to recruits in Texas this past week including 2021 four-star QB Jalen Milroe.
The four-star QB had this to say about his reaction to receiving an offer from the Hokies.
"Honestly I wasn’t expecting it, but it truly meant a lot that a school so far east saw potential in me. My coaches at Tompkins have been in contact with VT and my coaches said they had great conversations with the coaches. I liked the conversation with the quarterback coach at Virginia Tech prior to the offer. I felt that we built a great relationship which made my reaction to the offer so awesome," Milroe said.
That conversation came at Milroe's high school with Brad Cornelsen making the offer in person the fast rising Texas signal caller. Now that he has an offer from the Hokies, he's looking to build a strong relationship with the Hokies' offensive coordinator and QBs coach.
"Now with this offer, I want to build a great relationship with Coach Cornelsen and constantly keep in touch," Milroe said.
Virginia Tech is likely to be more than inclined to push hard for the talented QB after Milroe threw for 1,500 yards and ran for 609 yards this past season.
Looking ahead to the summer, Milroe told us that Virginia Tech is among the schools that he's hoping to visit along with trips to Florida State, Nebraska, and Boston College. That summer visit list seems likely to grow as well after he received offers later this past week from places like Alabama, Texas A&M, and Oregon.
Jalen Milroe also isn't in a hurry to make any sort of commitment telling up that he doesn't plan to make a decision until the end of the 2020 season. However, Milroe isn't holding fast to that timeline especially if he finds the right fit.
"Once I feel like the school I choose is home and it fits what I’m looking for in a school, then I will make my commitment," Milroe said.
For now, Brad Cornelsen and Virginia Tech have made a strong first impression on one of the highest-rated QBs in the 2021 class, Jalen Milroe.
