Virginia Tech is still looking to add at least 1-2 defensive tackles to their 2021 class with the Hokies extending an offer yesterday to three-star DT Desmond Mamudi who is currently committed to South Florida.

Mamudi had this to say about his reaction to receiving a Hokies' offer.

"I was super excited to hear the news when they had told me. My facial expressions showed I was happy," Mamudi said.

He added this about how he received his Virginia Tech offer.

"I received the offer from the D line coach, coach (Bill) Teerlinck, and everyone started cheering all happy. That made me feel pretty comfortable," Mamudi said.

Mamudi's conversation as a whole with DL coach Bill Teerlinck went quite well as he described to us.

"It was really good. He asked about my family life and what I wanna do, told me I could play as a freshman and I could really help them out. Anywhere I go, my goal is to be out there from the jump so overall, it was good," Mamudi said.

So how does this offer impact his recruitment and where Virginia Tech stands in it?

"I'm really excited about the future and I can tell you right now, VT will be in it," Mamudi said.

So why will the Hokies "be in it" for Desmond Mamudi?

"It's a good, well-known program, I can tell not to many people are going in and out, all around great school and environment, and somewhere everyone wants to be," Mamudi said.

Currently, Mamudi did add that "as of right now, I'm still committed" to USF which doesn't come as a surprise. However, he hopes to have everything finalized about where he'll sign during the December window by the first week of next month with the Hokies clearly having a significant opportunity here.

He mentioned that his family will be a key factor in finalizing his choice and added this on what that specifically means for him.

"I got to make sure it fits me as a player and as a person. I want to be able to be there and not feel home sick or feel like I made the wrong decision," Mamudi said.

Tech may also end up not being the only Power 5 offer for Mamudi who told us that he has been receiving interest from Florida State, Louisville, and Pittsburgh as well recently. That shouldn't come as a surprise as Mamudi is having a huge senior season with 65 tackles including 27 for loss, 13 sacks, and 4 forced fumbles in only 7 games so far this season with more opportunities to add on to those numbers.

Desmond Mamudi is on the rise, and Virginia Tech has made him one of their top defensive tackle targets weeks before the December signing window.
