Since becoming one of the first Power 5 programs to offer three-star DE Stephen Sings in early May, Virginia Tech has made the talented three-star DE a priority whether that's through the Hokies' communication with him or Sings' recent visit to campus.
Sings told us that the Hokies are among the teams recruiting him the hardest along with Auburn, UCF, and East Carolina.
Stephen Sings also got to take a visit to Virginia Tech recently that went "great" where he felt the Hokies "really wanted" him and "that it did not feel fake." Sings added that "everything" stood out to him while on his visit with Virginia Tech.
So how did this visit impact his recruitment?
"That some of the other colleges don’t really want me and this school really wants me," Sings said.
Beyond just his visit, Sings has built a "great" relationship with TEs coach James Shibest, his area recruiter, who he "loves talking to."
Looking ahead, Sings told us that he has plans to visit Auburn and UCF soon while also having visited North Carolina and hoping to take a visit to Oregon in the future.
However, Sings is also nearing a decision as he mentioned a couple dates for a possible trimming of his list and/or decision including July 14th and August 3rd. When he does make a decision, Sings told us that "the main thing is if I love the environment" in terms of the key factor in his decision.
When Sings does make a decision, he'll be a great addition as an intriguing defensive end who had 53 tackles and 17 sacks last season. That type of talent makes Sings quite the intriguing pass-rushing prospect who could rise in the recruiting rankings with 247 Sports being the only recruiting service to have rated him to date.
Stephen Sings is a top priority for the Hokies at defensive end with Virginia Tech in very good shape at this point in his recruitment, but with plenty of work to do.
