Virginia Tech will face South Carolina in the 2025 Chick-Fil-A Kickoff Game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. The game will be broadcast on either ABC or ESPN and will be contested on either Sunday, August 31st or Monday, September 1st.
While 2025 is still a long time away and plenty will likely change, it does open the door of possibility for this to be a showdown of the Hokies against a Shane Beamer-led South Carolina depending on how well Beamer does with the Gamecocks.
Tech fans have been wanting games against South Carolina and this game expedites that after having a 2034-2035 home & home with the Gamecocks scheduled previously. Additionally, this will give Tech two regular season games against SEC teams for the first time at least in recent memory if not ever.
Most importantly, this game will give whoever is a part of the Tech roster a premium season-opening stage to send a statement though it's way too early to guess who will be representing Tech on that day in Atlanta.
