Virginia Tech has seen another backup wide receiver enter the transfer portal in veteran Evan Fairs.
Can confirm that WR Evan Fairs' name is in the transfer portal. The former Kansas wideout spent last season, what was supposed to be his senior year, with the #Hokies but never really carved out a role. Appeared in eight games and had two catches for 18 yards.

Fairs transferred from Kansas during the late spring and arrived in a unique summer with many limitations due to the pandemic. Fairs was a backup receiver throughout the season finishing with 2 catches for 18 yards while also being used plenty as a blocker on the outside.
The NCAA's free year has given Fairs an extra year, and it wouldn't be surprising to see him drop down to either the Group of 5 or FCS for his next opportunity. Meanwhile, given that Fairs was about to enter his extra year, this does not open up an additional scholarship since returning seniors are excluded from the 85 count when they stay at their current schools.
We will have more as this story develops.
