After visiting Virginia Tech early in the week, fast-rising three-star forward Zed Key ended the week with an offer from the Hokies.
"I was excited as I am with any offer or interest that I receive from colleges. I know the program history so that's always special," Key said about his reaction to receiving an offer from the Hokies.
Key received that offer after having a phone call with head coach Mike Young with the Hokies having some communication with Key before he visited and was offered this past week.
Key has seen his recruitment take off after an impressive performance at the NBAPA Top 100 camp as he's also received offers from Wisconsin, Ohio State, Marquette, Pittsburgh, TCU, Boston College, Rhode Island, and USF within the past week.
So how did this offer impact Zed Key's recruitment?
"It's a good team in a strong league so it's always good to be acknowledged at that level," Key said.
Now Key does have a long-standing relationship with assistant coach Antwon Jackson as Jackson was recruiting him while at Cincinnati with that starting even during his freshman year of high school.
Key's visit to Virginia Tech gave him a chance to start building relationship with the whole staff as he told us.
"It was a quick visit. The campus/ facilities are really nice & it was great to meet with some of the staff," Key said about how his visit went.
For Key, what stood out the most from his visit was the time touring the facilities while he "would like to return to see the campus more in depth" on a future visit.
Zed Key is one of the fastest risers in the 2020 class after his recent performance at the NBAPA Top 100 camp with Virginia Tech making a big move this week in his recruitment after visiting Virginia Tech and receiving an offer from the Hokies via Mike Young.
